Kazbar’s Eoin O’Neill – a Disaronno ‘Mixing Star’
Eoin O’Neill of Waterford’s Kazbar was the winner of this year’s Disaronno Mixing Star Competition which had a heavy emphasis on showmanship with each bartender having to relate their cocktail to a movie either through articulating it in their presentation or incorporating it into their demonstration.
1 May 2013
Eoin wins the Irish trophy plus two nights in Amsterdam to compete at The Mixing Star Global Final 2013, putting him in with the chance of winning a one-week trip to Venice, Italy, where the global winner will stay in a Four Star hotel and will join the world of movie stars at the International Film Festival.
Cocktail bartenders from around the country (who’d been whittled down from 40 to 14) competed in this year’s competition final held recently in the Whiskey Bar at 37 Dawson Street.
The competition judges comprised Disaronno Brand Manager for the UK & Ireland Marc Duffy, Assistant Brand Manager for Disaronno distributors Barry & Fitzwilliam Sally Breslin and BAI President Declan Byrne.
Eoin chose the film ‘Cocktail’ with Tom Cruise for his winning cocktail, ‘Coral’.
Alan Glynn of 37 Dawson St itself came second with his cocktail ‘Skull Island Fashioned’ with Alan choosing as his film ‘King Kong’.
All finalists received a certificate and a bottle of Disaronno Originale.
