Alongside Martell, Jameson is the key driver of Pernod Ricard’s overall strong performance.

According to Chairman & Chief Executive at IDL Pernod Ricard Anna Malmhake, Jameson is now in its 24th consecutive year of growth with sales of over four million cases achieved in 2012.

“We are confident that Jameson will reach its next identified milestone of five million cases by early 2014,” she stated, adding that progress is now well advanced in the construction of the modernised distillery facility and on-track to open in the months ahead.
The long term shift from the on-trade to major off-trade outlets continues to have a negative impact on all sectors of the drinks industry in Ireland but she pointed out that within IDL’s portfolio have been a number of encouraging brand and category performances during the year. For example two categories that have delivered significant growth for IDL at the half-year point are rum and gin with Havana Club rum experiencing growth of 22% “with particular success achieved in the on-trade”.

Gin is a category that has experienced some resurgence of late, with the total market place in growth, stated the company.

Parent company Pernod Ricard’s H1 results indicate a growth of 5% in net sales to €4.91 billion leading to an Operating Profit of €1.46 billion, up 6% on the same period in 2011.

However sales in Western Europe declined 4% “in a challenging economic climate”.
