Irish Grocers’ Benevolent Fund presents Summer Fundraiser at Leopardstown

Day full of racing, music, and food will be held to benefit members of the grocery trade

The Irish Grocers Benevolent Fund (IGBF) has today announced an exciting day of racing, music and food at Leopardstown Racecourse supporting the work of the fund to take place this June at Leopardstown Racecourse in County Dublin.

Taking place on Thursday, 22 June – The President’s Summer Fundraiser will bring members of the grocery industry together to support the fund, and network while enjoying great music, racing, and wonderful food and drink.

The IGBF is a registered charity that provides financial assistance for people in the retail and grocer sectors who have fallen on difficult times because of ill health, unemployment, or bereavement. This year marks 60 years since the fund was established, and in that time, it has helped to improve the lives of hundreds of individuals and families.

The charity assists up to 200 families at any one time and contributes in the region of €500,000 annually in support. This support takes the form of monthly, quarterly, or annual annuities as well as crisis grants where appropriate.

“We’re really looking forward to bringing all our supporters together for this summer gathering,” said IGBF chairperson, Frances Higgins. “As part of our calendar of events, this event will go a long way towards our goal of raising funds to help support the individuals and families who need us.”

The event is an ideal way to reward your teams for their hard work and will kick off from 4pm with a street-food and drinks event. Guest can then enjoy an exciting evening of racing, followed by some great party tunes from Maniac 2000 DJ Mark McCabe.

President of Appeals, Joe Manning, Tesco Ireland, added: “I’m delighted to bring this fun event to the grocery industry calendar to raise funds to support the IGBF.  Our hardworking members will have the chance to enjoy some great music, food and racing while catching up with friends and colleagues. I look forward to it raising much needed funds to continue to support the families and individuals who need the IGBF’s help.”

Bundle ticket packages provide the best value, available at €2,000 for 10 tickets, serving as a great option for staff reward this summer.
