Irish distiller Pernod Ricard has been named Producer of the Year at this year’s prestigious International Spirits Challenge, topping the World Whiskies group, encompassing the Irish Whiskey category along with all other world whiskeys. This recent success showcases the continuing success of the Irish whiskey industry, which is undergoing something of a renaissance the past few years.

At the ceremony in London’s Honourable Artillery Company, Brian Nation of Irish Distillers collected the award, calling it testament to those who work in the industry. “This is down to the dedication and commitment of the passionate craftspeople at the Middleton Distillery past and present,” Nation said. “It’s a huge honour to be part of the team that is collectively recognised as producer of the year for all world whiskeys, and a fantastic motivation to continue crafting our award-winning products with the utmost care and consistency.
