IDL’s Alex Ricard returns to Paris
Alexandre Ricard, Chief Executive and Chairman of Irish Distillers, is leaving the company to take up the position of Managing Director of IDL parent Pernod Ricard’s Distribution Network on 1st September.
15 July 2011
Alex, 39, nephew of Pernod Ricard Chairman Patrick Ricard, will move to the Paris HQ and will take a seat on the Group’s Executive Board. The move forms part of Pernod’s policy of internal promotion and international mobility.
Alex joined IDL (for the second time) in 2008 when he was appointed Chief Executive and Chairman and presided over a period of strong growth for Jameson Irish whiskey.
He’ll now take over responsibility for PR’s distribution from Pierre Prinquet who has assumed distribution responsibilities since Michel Bord left the company a year ago.
As a result, Alex will now be responsible for heading up the US, Europe and Asia divisions, the Ricard & Pernod pastis business and the Pernod Ricard commercial development division.
His position at IDL will be filled by Anna Malmhake, Managing Director of the Absolut Company, who, as a member of the Pernod Ricard Executive Board, will report to Thierry Billot, Managing Director of Brands at Pernod Ricard.
A Bachelor in Social Science Business and Law from the University of Stockholm, she started her career in 1991 at Procter & Gamble in Sweden, then joined The Coca Cola Company in Stockholm at the end of 1996 where she held various marketing positions, before working as from 2001 for Motorola successively in Sweden, London and Chicago. Back to Sweden at the end of 2003, she became Managing Director of consulting firm Temo AB and then took up the position of Marketing Director of Coca Cola Swedish Bottler before joining the Absolut Company in 2007 as Global Brand Director for Absolut.
Since September 2009 she’s been Marketing Director of the Absolut Company.
