Martin and Geraldine Hegarty had reason to celebrate on the double at the weekend. As well as officially marking the revamp of their store in picturesque Bantry in Co. Cork, the National Lottery revealed that they had sold the winning ticket for last Saturday night’s Lotto draw.

No one won the €3.5 million jackpot, but one lucky customer of Hegarty’s Mace in Bantry is €91,000 richer after matching five numbers and the bonus ball.

The win has created quite the stir in the West Cork town with retailer Martin Hegarty commenting: “We are absolutely delighted for the winner. We would like to wish them the best of luck and we hope that they enjoy their good fortune. We have had great local support and it has created a great buzz around Bantry.”

Hegarty’s Mace has been serving the Bantry community since 1992 and recently underwent a major revamp of the store. Commenting, Daniel O’Connell, Mace sales director said: “Saturday’s relaunch was a terrific success and this added excitement is great, for Bantry and for Hegarty’s Mace. I want to congratulate Martin and Geraldine on their ‘new’ store and on this latest success.”
