Jameson sales in the US were up 17% during this period.

However here at home Pernod Ricard’s sales overall were somewhat less dynamic, showing a decline “caused by the very strong increase in excise duty in October (approx € 2 added to the RSP of a 70cl bottle of Jameson)”.

The nine-month period saw little change in Pernod Ricard’s global total sales figure at €6.2 billion. European sales were up 2%.

Like rivals Diageo and Remy Cointreau, Pernod has been hit by a Chinese government crackdown on luxury gift-giving and personal spending by civil servants as well as by slowing economic growth in its second-biggest market.
