In a notable enforcement operation, Gardaí arrested ten people yesterday linked to 31 separate cases of shoplifting in the Bridewell district of Dublin, according to The Journal.

The arrests, carried out under Operation Táirge by Gardaí from Bridewell Garda Station, included five men and five women.

Operation Táirge, which began last December, is designed to address organised retail crime, which adversely affects the economy and is particularly detrimental to small businesses.

Meanwhile, two additional individuals have been referred to the Garda National Youth Diversion Programme, and warrants are currently being executed for another 13 suspects related to retail theft.

The theft incidents spanned both well-known international chains and local businesses.
