Gala retail group, the nationwide convenience store group with more than 200 stores nationwide, has been announced as headline sponsor for the Irish Film & Television Awards for the next three years. The newly-renamed IFTA Gala Television Awards will take place this October 22nd at Dublin’s DoubleTree Hotel, and will celebrate and recognise the best in Irish creative talent on small screen. This new event follows the decision earlier this year to split the awards in to two separate ceremonies, with the Film awards to follow.

CEO of Gala Retail Gary Desmond said that there is a “synergy” between the efforts of Gala to strive for excellence, and in celebrating the best of Irish television. “Irish programme-makers and Irish creative talent are truly raising the bar in delivering high quality TV programmes to Irish audiences,” he said, “and Gala is proud to support the Academy in highlighting these achievements.

“We’re confident that partnering with such an iconic Irish Institution – IFTA – will resonate with our shoppers as they play a central role in which show wins the Gala TV Show of the Year.”
