Gala has unveiled plans to help its retailers attract new customers and add value in store at the group’s annual conference, which was themed ‘Going the extra mile’ and held at the Lyrath Estate Hotel, Kilkenny.

Gala’s CEO launched a number of new concepts to Gala retailers, including the introduction of Gala’s new gift card, the development of the Gala app and unique product offerings, following the successful introduction of ‘Baker’s Corner’ at the 2010 Conference.

Gary Desmond, CEO of Gala Retail Services, explains: “In just over one year, the highly successful ‘Baker’s Corner’ concept, delivered in partnership with O’Brien’s Ingredients, is now housed in over one third of Gala stores. ‘Baker’s Corner’ has driven new customers to Gala and offers quality, home baked products that are going down a treat with Gala customers.”
Despite the challenging trading conditions, Gala has seen a marginal net gain in store numbers this year, with 50% of new Gala stores migrating from other symbol groups.
