Dunnes Stores has decided to end its opposition to online sales and has launched an online store along with a revamped website. After more than a year in production, the retailer is selling clothes, gift and homewares online but is not selling groceries.

The retailer has decided not to sell groceries online, something which has raised a few eyebrows. Major competitors such as Tesco, Superquinn and SuperValu all offer online shopping for their grocery lines but Dunnes has decided not to join this market.

The new website itself is clean, tidy and easy to navigate. Customers can browse the several designer collections that are sold in the stores and choose several methods of delivery. Irish customers can choose to have items delivered to their own address – at a cost of €4.95 for standard delivery, €9.95 for next day delivery or they can have the items delivered to a store near them for free, which will take four working days.

The site also has options for Northern Ireland, the UK and International delivery with prices ranging from free of charge to €18.95. The notoriously private family-rum company has over 155 stores in Ireland, the UK and Spain, and employs over 15,000 people.
