Daybreak and long-term charity partner, the Irish Heart Foundation have teamed up once again for their annual active challenge.

The ‘Keep it Moving’ campaign challenges Daybreak retailers and staff to complete a marathon in-a-month throughout September. The goal of the challenge is for Daybreakers to get out and get active to improve their fitness and heart health – all while raising funds for an incredible cause.

Over 150 Daybreak stores nationwide are taking part in the challenge over the month of September. Participants will commit to completing a marathon (42.195km) over the month and will ask customers, family, and friends to sponsor them to achieve the fundraising target.

“We are delighted to continue supporting the Irish Heart Foundation with our annual active challenge and it has become a highlight during the year for us,” said Molly Byrne, assistant brand manager, Daybreak.

“When creating this challenge, our focus was creating something Daybreakers could get involved in no matter what their fitness level. The challenge aims to celebrate movement, championing participation rather than perfection and allows participants to take part in the challenge at their own pace. The thought of a marathon can be daunting; however, taking it one day at a time and participating according to your own fitness level can make this task achievable with the right mindset and motivation.

“Community is at the heart of Daybreak, and we are extremely proud to support the Irish Heart Foundation and their incredible work and mission to eliminate preventable death and disability from heart disease and stroke.”

Daybreak has partnered with the Irish Heart Foundation since 2016, helping the charity provide much needed resources and support to communities throughout Ireland. The Foundation offers support to stroke survivors and those living with heart disease by offering a variety of both in person and online services.

Cliodhna Burke, senior business development manager, Irish Heart Foundation said: “We are extremely grateful for the continued support and commitment from Daybreak. Our vision is a future where no hearts are broken by preventable heart disease and stroke and the generosity of Daybreak, and their customers can help us achieve this! We are so excited to kick off this year’s campaign and ‘Keep it Moving’ towards heart health.”
