Coca-Cola launches Christmas-themed OOH Special Chimney Build

Poster Plan and MediaCom Ireland partner up to deliver bespoke OOH campaign to celebrate the festive season

Media planning and buying agency, MediaCom Ireland has teamed up with Poster Plan, the specialists in innovative Out of Home (OOH) communications for brands to launch Coca-Cola’s unique OOH Christmas Special Build called ‘Chimney’ in Dublin.

The goal of the campaign is to strengthen Coca-Cola’s association with Christmas culture, bring its magic to life and drive brand engagement. The special chimney build will be located at the corner of Merrion Row and Ely Place up until 23 December. The team have collaborated with XL Media on the project.

The bespoke OOH 3D special chimney build tells the story of a boy who is worried that Santa will not be able to visit his apartment block, as it has no fireplace. After enlisting the help of other residents, they install a series of box chimneys across the whole complex and in the process even manage to make their grumpy neighbour smile. A 3D chimney build decorated with real fairy lights will be placed along the building and window vinyls show scenes of real Christmas magic creating a sense of connection and family. The campaign is evocative of how Coca-Cola brings people together.

“With this unique OOH build, we want to help to make sure Coca-Cola remains a special part of everyone’s Christmas,” said Gavin Gillespie, brand manager with Coca-Cola. “The goal of this activation is to allow shoppers, passers-by, and visitors to Dublin city centre to experience Coca-Cola’s Real Magic campaign over the holiday period. We would like to thank MediaCom, Poster Plan and XL Media for their hard work in creating what is truly a special OOH asset.”
