Blas na hÉireann: Green Pastures named Supreme Champion 2019
Blas na hÉireann 2019, the Irish food awards, took place in Dingle last weekend, with the overall Supreme Champion Award going to Green Pastures Donegal Soft Cheese.

Donegal food producer Green Pastures was crowned Supreme Champion at the 2019 Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards, for its Green Pastures Donegal Soft Cheese. Burren Balsamics was announced as Best Artisan Product at the hotly-anticipated event.
Green Pastures Donegal, a family run business based in Convoy, Co. Donegal, mixes the tradition of cheese-making with modern technology to create a range of dairy products including its winning product, Green Pastures Donegal Soft Cheese. Championing a ‘Natural by Nature’ sustainability programme, Green Pastures Donegal works closely with family farms to advocate and support sustainable farming practices within their milk supply farms.
Meanwhile, Burren Balsamics of Richill Co. Armagh, set out to produce a range of fruit-infused black balsamic vinegars. The initial range was so well-received that there was developed a selection of white balsamic infusions. The brand now has over 15 balsamic vinegars on offer.
Now in its 12th year, the Blas na hÉireann awards are the all-island food awards that recognise the very best Irish food and drink products, and the passionate people behind them.
Speaking after the announcement, Artie Clifford, chairperson and founder of Blas na hÉireann said the 2019 awards had been another exceptional year. “The engagement from the public increases year-on-year too,” said Clifford, “which is always rewarding to the entire community that has come together through Blas an hÉireann over the last 12 years. These few days in Dingle at the culmination of the Blas awards process are days we all look forward to all year — days of celebrating quality, connections, competition and our worthy winners.”
