Bar sales volumes down 10% in February

Bar sales volumes were down nearly 10 per cent in February (9.9 per cent) compared to February 2011 according to seasonally adjusted preliminary CSO estimates while sales values were down 9.0 per cent.

Sales volumes were also down by 3.3 per cent on January 2012 and by 2.3 per cent in terms of sales values.

Bar  sales declined 8.5 per cent in volume in January compared with January 2011 according to final figures from the CSO, with an 8.3 per cent drop in sales values. They were 4.8 per cent down on the December 2011 figure in terms of volume and 4.0 per cent down in terms of value.

Over the three-month period December 2011 to February 2012 annual bar sales volumes were down 6.1 per cent while they were down 6.0 per cent in value. Bar sales volumes were down by 0.6 per cent compared to the previous three-month period September to November 2011, while values were down 0.3 per cent.
