Fernando Sanz of Heinken Spain gave these statistics in telling of the importance of Irish pubs in Spain at the Irish Pubs Global Conference in the Burlington Hotel recently.

Heineken operates some 250 Heineken outlets around Spain with one in five of these being franchised brands. In these pubs it can offer its customers various promotions such as ‘buckets of bottled Heineken’ for a special price.

Interestingly, the company found that 60% of consumers go to an Irish pub because of the ‘entertainment’ element.
Thus Heineken sets out to differentiate its pubs and provide Irish-themed promotions in them.

For example it will be running a ‘Molly Malone’ promotion next month offering free Mussels.
