CEO of Dawn Farm Foods is new president of Ibec

At Ibec’s annual President’s Dinner, on Thursday 18 September at the RDS, Dublin, CEO of Dawn Farm Foods Larry Murrin took over the position of Ibec president, the first from the agri-food sector.

At the event he said the upcoming budget should meet our deficit targets, reduce income tax, support public and private investment, and ensure Ireland remains an attractive investment location. The guest of honour was Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who also addressed the event.

Tom Shipsey appointed chairperson of Concern

Concern Worldwide, Ireland’s largest humanitarian organisation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Shipsey as chairperson of the organisation’s governing Council (Board). Shipsey takes over from Frances O’Keeffe, who was chairperson from 2010.

As with all Concern’s Council roles, the position of chairperson is undertaken in a voluntary capacity.

Shipsey has been CEO of Stonehouse Marketing Ltd since it was formed in 2000. Stonehouse, with a wholesale membership of 25 members and 30 depots, is the largest independent wholesale cash and carry group in the country.

MediaVest appoints client associate in Search & Analytics

Maria Hyland has joined MediaVest as client associate at leading Irish media planning and buying agency MediaVest. In her new role, Hyland will be working with clients including Ulster Bank, Aviva, Electric Ireland, Nissan, 48, O2 and Mars.

Hyland joins MediaVest following a successful career in lead management in Oracle, contract support in Group 4 Securicor, assistant campaign manager in Trócaire and marketing and bid co-ordinator in John Paul Construction. She has experience in digital marketing, search and analytics and has been with MediaVest since April 2014.

Loren Hoey appointed client associate at MediaVest

Loren Hoey has also been appointed client associate at MediaVest, where she will be managing a number of key accounts. In her new role Hoey will be working with clients including Ulster Bank, Nissan and BWG. She joins MediaVest following a successful career with Core Media for almost three years, having started out working in the trading department as a buyer within a specialist trading and investment team.

Charley Stoney appointed new group managing director at Alternatives Group

Charley Stoney

Alternatives Group has announced the appointment of Charley Stoney as group managing director. She will also join the group’s new board of directors that’s been tasked with tripling the size of the business in the next three years. Stoney’s responsibility will focus on providing strong leadership and guidance that continues the group’s reputation for sourcing top talent and providing flexible business models that deliver results. She will also leverage her skills in commercial, marketing and managed services, plus her experience of people centric organisations, to explore new business opportunities. Prior to joining Alternatives, Stoney was managing director of FMI, a leading field management company and provider of shared services. In addition, she was previously managing director of McConnell’s Fusion, the below-the-line business within the former McConnell’s Advertising Group.

New head of FMCG & Retail at Alternatives

Sheila Cunningham

Sheila Cunningham joins Alternatives as head of FMCG & Retail at a critical time in the group’s growth projectory. She has spent over 20 years building her marketing, brand and consumer insight expertise and will add huge value in helping Alternatives’ clients attract and retain the very best in marketing and commercial talent. Prior to Alternatives, Cunningham had her own consultancy business, where she worked with Heineken, managing and developing the company’s market intelligence team and delivering consumer insight to drive its communications strategies. Other key clients included advertising specialists Irish International and Publicis to whom she provided with strategic planning advice and insight.
