Aldi Ireland today submitted a planning application to Kildare County Council for a new €9.4m store located on Church Street in Kilcock, Co. Kildare.

Aldi is aiming to open the store in summer 2025, making it the tenth Aldi store to open in Kildare since 2004. According to Aldi, the new Kilcock store will create up to 30 permanent jobs.

Once open, the 1315sq m store would feature Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh layout. There would be 114 car parking spaces available for customers and 20 bike parking spaces.

Aldi also plans to provide four electric vehicle charging points, while the store would be powered by 100% green electricity and will feature 90 sqm of solar panels on the roof.

The retailer currently partners with 11 food producers in Kildare including Coghlan’s Artisan Bakery based in Naas. Last year, Aldi sourced €10.7m of locally produced food and drink from Co. Kildare based suppliers.

To date, Aldi highlights the fact that its Kildare stores have donated over 70,000 meals to local charities through FoodCloud, saving the charities over €88,500. Each store is also part of Aldi’s Community Grants network, with Samaritans Newbridge one of the local charities that have availed of the €500 bursary grant in recent years.

“We’re delighted to submit our plans today for a store in Kilcock and to commit to further investment in Co. Kildare. Kilcock will be our tenth store in Co. Kildare and will be a great addition to our expanding store network,” said Colin Breslin, managing director of buying and services, Aldi Ireland.

“Every new Aldi store brings greater choice, quality, and value to shoppers which is important now more than ever before,” Breslin added.
