Aldi seeking to recruit 500 new staff in 2019
Aldi Ireland has implemented a plan that was announced last year, by which it will pay all staff a "Living Wage" of €11.90ph or more, which is more than €2 greater than the national minimum wage. Aldi is the first Irish supermarket to introduce this measure.

Aldi Ireland has announced a new minimum rate of pay of €11.90 an hour, matching the Living Wage rate recommended by the government’s Living Wage Technical Group The move will make Aldi the first grocery retailer to pay €11.90 rate, which will be effective from 1 February.
Aldi also confirmed it is seeking to recruit and train more than 500 new store employees throughout 2019, to support its ongoing growth and expansion in Ireland. Aldi plans to open seven new stores this year in Ireland.
Opportunities are now available for area manager, store manager, assistant store manager and store assistant positions across Aldi’s entire 137 stores nationwide.
Giles Hurley, CEO of Aldi UK and Ireland, said the company recognises the immense contribution that thousands of store colleagues make each day in Aldi stores around Ireland. “Their hard work and commitment is a key reason why Aldi is Ireland’s fastest-growing supermarket,” he said. “We have always provided our employees with market-leading pay rates and will continue to do so.”
Aldi has now a 10.8% share of Ireland’s grocery market, and recently experienced its busiest Christmas week ever, with sales value up over 10% on the previous year. Meanwhile, Aldi has invested €60m in revamping and refurbishing its existing stores nationwide, introducing its ‘Project Fresh’ design and layout.
