Aldi has further increased its presence in Co. Dublin with the opening of its latest store in Swords, where 25 new jobs have been created.

The Swords outlet is Aldi’s 19th store in Dublin, bringing its total number of stores in Ireland now to 128.

According to the latest supermarket share figures from Kantar Worldpanel, published for the 12 weeks ending 6 November 2016,  Aldi’s market share has now reached 11.3%.

Director David Berry said: “Aldi’s strong performance continues with sales growing by 6.6% year on year – leading to a healthy increase in market share from 11.1% last year to 11.3% in the past 12 weeks.  Aldi has seen the biggest boost to its shopper numbers during the latest quarter with an extra 40,000 households visiting the retailer and also returning more often.”

Speaking at the store opening, Patrik Polak, manager of Aldi’s new Swords store said the team is “really looking forward to serving the local community”.

Aldi’s local suppliers from Co. Dublin include Martin Flynn of Martin Flynn Nurseries, which supplies the retailer with a range of Irish locally grown tomatoes, Robert Roberts, which supplies Aldi’s multi-award winning McGrath’s Irish tea range and Traditional Cheese Company, which supplies artisan cheeses to Aldi.
