Aldi has initiated a recruitment drive to fill over 360 vacancies across the retailers’ 156 store network in Ireland, including 99 vacancies in the capital. The company is recruiting for store assistants including 73 permanent positions and 26 fixed term contract positions in its Dublin stores.

Recruitment has begun for the roles, which are a mix of existing and newly created vacancies, with Aldi keen to fill all positions as soon as possible as the company continues to open new stores and sees an increase in customer demand ahead of the busy summer period.

Aldi has announced over 810 new jobs in recent months, supporting its ambitious plans for growing its store network. Existing vacancies, as well as an increase in store openings in Dublin, are driving the demand for new recruits in the county. Aldi opened a new store in Adamstown earlier this month, and its new Cabra store is due to open next week.

Aldi has made a capital investment of almost €187 million in Co. Dublin since opening its  first Irish store in the city in 1999. The new hires will join the 673-strong team in Dublin currently and the 4,650 members of team Aldi in Ireland and “will benefit from a competitive package including market leading rates of pay and career progression opportunities”.

In February 2023, Aldi increased its hourly pay rates for store colleagues, maintaining its position as Ireland’s best paying supermarket. Aldi pays all store assistants up to €16.00 an hour, with a market leading entry rate of €13.85 an hour.

Donald Mackay, regional managing director, welcomed the recruitment drive.

“In order to provide great value to our customers, it has to start with our people,” Mackay said.

“We have a dedicated and talented team of 4,650 people across our 156 stores and warehouses who support the business in delivering for our customers each and every day,” he added. “We are always looking for talented, hardworking and committed people to join the Aldi family, as we continue to grow and develop the business in Ireland, and we look forward to welcoming new colleagues to the team.”
