The research, Alcohol Consumption in Pregnancy: Results from the general practice setting, was conducted by a team of medical experts attached to the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland and has been published in the Irish Journal of Medical Science. Research was conducted among 240 women attending ante-natal visits in 15 teaching GP practices in the greater Dublin area.

In re-iterating its call for mandatory pregnancy warning labelling on all alcoholic products ABFI Director Kathryn D’Arcy said, “There’s a clear need to encourage consumers to take personal responsibility for their drinking patterns and to drink in moderation. We’ve been calling for the inclusion of mandatory pregnancy warning labelling on all alcoholic products since 2007.”
