Due to Covid-19, it won’t be possible for the Irish Grocers Benevolent Fund (IGBF) to kickstart the Christmas season for our industry this year with its annual Grocers Christmas Lunch on 4 December.

Fortunately however, the association will be hosting an IGBF “Virtual Get Together” that day.  A “Jingle & Mingle” theme (#igbfjingle) encourages people within our industry to take part in the IGBF’s first virtual Christmas event to help us raise funds and connect socially with industry colleagues.

Those in the trade are encouraged to pick some friends or colleagues within their grocery network and make a date that day to “Jingle & Mingle” virtually with them. Whether it’s a Microsoft Teams call simply to catch up with their own work team socially or a Zoom call with someone that they normally bump into at the Xmas lunch and haven’t talked to in a while, people themselves can choose.

Then at 3pm that day, the IGBF will be hosting a virtual session which participants can log into, which will encompass a short address by the current president of appeals Sharon Buckley and Leonard Hegarty, chair of the IGBF.  This will be followed by an intimate gig with a special headline Irish artist for you, your teams and their families to watch!

This virtual get-together for the grocery industry won’t be possible without your help. “Our hope is that you will support this event by purchasing virtual tickets (or links), for your staff and encourage them to “Jingle & Mingle” with others on the day,” says Leonard Hegarty, chair of the IGBF.

Corporate tickets will also include automatic entry into the IGBF’s big Christmas Raffle with each ticket bought, with prices as follows:
1 Ticket + 1 Raffle Inclusion          = €50
10 Tickets + 10 Raffle Inclusions   = €500
25 Tickets + 25 Raffle Inclusions   = €1,000

Every registration for the event will automatically be put into the draw for a host of prizes.

Full details of the event and timings will be available on https://www.igbf.ie/christmaslunch/.  You can purchase your tickets through the IGBF Website itself or through Hotel Solutions DMC info@hotel-solutions.ie, and invoices can be provided.  You can then send on the link to your colleagues within your business and encourage them to take some much needed and deserved time out that day to virtually network and watch the gig – together but safely apart!

The Super top prize in the Christmas Raffle will be a much sought after luxurious 2 Night Bed & Breakfast stay in the 5* Adare Manor, Co. Limerick, with dinner in the Michelin star Oak Room Restaurant, a round of golf and an Aromatherapy Massage for 2 people. We also have weekend breaks, discount vouchers and hampers galore to be won!

“Any amount, great or small, goes a long way to improve the lives of the people in need within the FMCG sector, which is so badly needed, this year more than most when many of our traditional fund raising events had to be postponed – so please support this event and join us on Friday the 4th December,” Hegarty added.

The IGBF also thanked its very generous sponsors without whom the event would not be possible. These include The National Lottery, the headline sponsor and great supporters of the IGBF charity, Tap Creations who designed a very festive look and feel for the event, Mondelez, Hotel Solutions DMC and the TWIG committee for creating the concept and making it all come together.
