A final cheque presentation on behalf of all SparRetailers was made to Cystic Fibrosis at a recent meeting of the National Council of Spar Retailers. Over the two years of Cystic Fibrosis being Spar’s nominated charity partner, retailers, staff and customers raised more than €732,000 for the charity, surpassing the original target by nearly half a million euro.

Over the duration of the partnership, a combination of activities contributed to this success, including in-store collection boxes, Spar Twitter Tree, 65 Roses Day, Malin to Mizen Cycle, Head2Head Walk and donations from the sales of selected Spar Range products.

These donations have supported the vital work of the charity, with Spar recently recognised at the 2019 Cystic Fibrosis Ireland National Awards for the major contribution it has made to the charity’s ongoing work.

The cheque was presented to Cystic Fibrosis Ireland fundraising manager Fergal Smyth by Colin Donnelly, Spar Sales Director, Helen Somerville, Spar Marketing Manager and Alan Kealy, Chairman National Council of Spar Retailers, alongside members of the National Council of Spar Retailers (l-r): Liam Killeen, Damian Daly, Mark Jones, Tom Meehan, Lil Courtney, Colm O’Reilly, Cal Lynam, Brian Kelly, Sean Heaphy, Damien West.
