Aldi readies 50,000 pumpkins for Halloween sales
We're into October, so the Halloween promotions have kicked into gear with aplomb - including pumpkin sales, which Aldi suggests will show an increase on last year's.

With Halloween fast approaching, Aldi has revealed that it expects to sell more than 50,000 homegrown pumpkins this spooky season, representing a 10% increase on last year. The entire crop of pumpkins will be supplied to the supermarket retailer’s 139 stores by Dublin-based supplier Donnelly Fruit & Veg, in a contract worth more than €150,000. Donnelly’s has partnered with Aldi since 2007, suppling strawberries, tomatoes and several other fruit and vegetable lines to Aldi.
The pumpkins will be available in four sizes, including “monster sized”, with prices starting at just 99c.
Aldi’s group buying director John Curtin said the deal demonstrates Aldi’s ongoing commitment to providing customers with the best in Irish fruit and veg.
Welcoming the deal, Damien Butler of Donnelly Fruit & Veg, said the supplier is delighted to continue its long and fruitful partnership with Aldi Ireland. “We believe it is very important to work with a partner such as Aldi,” Butler said, “who puts the same emphasis on quality produce as we do.”
