2nd Gold Medal marks 15 Years of Porterhouse brewing

In a glitzy ceremony at London’s Guild Hall, The Porterhouse Brewing Company was recently awarded another gold medal in the dark beer category at the Brewing Industry International Awards, dubbed “The Brewing Oscars”, for its Plain Porter recently.

Plain Porter’s first medal was won in 1998 while the awards themselves have been running since 1886 and now comprise 850 entries structured into nine categories with 32 classes.

Porterhouse Masterbrewer Peter Mosley also recently celebrated 15 years of Porterhouse brewing with a secret session – an invite-only bash – which took place in Sweny’s bookshop and pharmacy at Westland Row and Lincoln Place in Dublin.

The establishment, home to James Joyce recitations every Thursday evening, was decked out as a Porterhouse bar serving up pints of the award-winning Plain Porter. Amongst other recitations, guests were treated to the famous and very appropriate Flann O’Brien piece of poetry A Pint of Plain is yer Only Man as well as a traditional Irish band and Dublin’s favourite dish of Coddle.
