19 Enforcement Orders served in May

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland reports that 15 Closure Orders, two Improvement Orders, two Prohibition Orders and one successful prosecution were served on food businesses during the month of May for breaches of food safety legislation pursuant to the FSAI Act 1998 and the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations 2010.

Among the Enforcement Orders issued by EHOs in the HSE were Closure Orders on Duesbury Ltd, trading as Old Ground Hotel, O’Connell Street, Ennis, Clare (closed area: kitchens, Poets Corner Bar & ancillary food areas) and Poc ar Buile public house, Ballinrostig, Whitegate, Cork.?Dr Bernard Hegarty, Director of Service Contracts, FSAI, stated that May was one of the highest months on record for Enforcement Orders needing to be served.
