The Irish Quality Food Awards 2017 have been announced, with Tesco walking away with an impressive 25 Gold Awards. At an event in Dublin’s Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, the results were revealed after a team of judges spent weeks testing and sampling entries from across Ireland at the Dublin Institute of Technology’s School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology.

Tesco own-label products were among the big winners on the night, across the Good Choice, Drink and Food categories including fresh produce, meat, bakery, frozen, snacks and beers, wines and spirits.

As well as these individual accolades, Tesco was also awarded the coveted Irish Good Choice Quality Retailer of the Year award.

Alongside Tesco, the big winners on the night included:

The Gold Q Winner: the highest accolade in the awards was presented to O’Brien Fine Foods’ Brady Family Turf Smoked Ham

Retailer of of the Year: Dunnes Stores

Small Producer Award: Meere’s Pork Products

Irish Blogger of the Year: Jolene Cox from oneyummymummy.com

The Irish Quality Drink Awards: Tesco Finest Premier Cru Champagne, Feeney’s Irish Cream Liquer, Moore & Co cider, and more

Helen Lyons of Metropolis Business Media, the organisers of the event, said the 2017 awards were the best yet. “Our winners showcase the truly incredible food and drink industry in Ireland,” she said. “It was really tough for our judges to choose the winners from such a vast array of fantastic products.”

“The Small Producer awards is particularly exciting, as our winner will also see their product stocked in Dunnes Stores, while our Food Hero award winner Gareth Brown illustrates all that is good about our industry.”
