The past week has seen tension rising in the world of Tesco as strike action over changes to certain employees’ contract looked as if it was going to spread to more and more stores. Today, however, six stores due to join the strike delayed their action following concerns about the notice served by union Mandate.

The Journal reports that concerns were raised by Tesco that the strike notices served for strike action in stores in Newbridge, Sligo town, Ballinasloe, Carlow, Bloomfield and Sandymount, did not conform with employment law.

Mandate has decided to “err on the side of caution”, and those stores will join the action on Friday 3rd instead of this Monday.
