SuperValu wins 31 awards at Great Taste Awards

SuperValu was the big winner at this year’s The Great Taste Awards, taking home an impressive 31 awards. SuperValu Crème Fraiche was awarded three gold stars, making it the highest ranked own-brand product by an Irish retailer.

In fact, overall SuperValu has received over 100 accolades received in the last three years alone at the prestigious awards ceremony.

The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the world’s largest blind-tasted food awards with over 400 judges including chefs, food critics and farmers taking part in this year’s competition.

Commenting on the awards, Martin Kelleher, managing director, SuperValu said: “Bringing the best of locally sourced, quality fresh food to consumers is what SuperValu is all about and we are incredibly proud to be recognised with so many accolades at this year’s Great Taste Awards.”

He described sweeping the board with over 30 awards as “a remarkable achievement [that] underlines our commitment to working with the cream of Irish food producers. As the number one supporter of the Irish agri-food industry, we source from more Irish suppliers than any other retailer in Ireland – equating to an annual economic contribution of €2.19 billion. We are delighted to share this success with the winning producers.”
