Showcasing an impressive new look following a multi-million euro investment, SuperValu Lucan is a store that has made a tangible impact on the local community. The supermarket’s latest goodwill gesture was the donation of a state of the art AED heart defibrillator for use by the entire community.

The heart defibrillator will be located at the main entrance of the shopping centre for 24 hour use, 365 days a year.  The device is housed in a heated weatherproof box and can be used by all, as it actually talks the user right through the process of saving a person’s life until the medical team arrive.

To celebrate, SuperValu held a community evening which was a roaring success, with guests such as celebrity chef Kevin Dundon hosting a fantastic cookery demonstration alongside choirs, magicians, food tastings and lots of champagne! Local lady and loyal customer May Clifford was asked to cut the cake to a crowd of over 100 and officially open the new look million-euro investment store.

Store manager Ian Lynam said he personally wants to be involved in making sure SuperValu “becomes the heart of the local community in Lucan”. Over the next 12 weeks the store’s team will be holding weekly in-store events such as talks, tastings and coffee mornings, all based around working even closer with the local community.
