National Lottery bosses have confirmed the sale of Ireland’s €38m winning lottery ticket was in Malahide, Dublin. The winner has chosen to retain their privacy at this time, they said. They are expected to collect their life-changing cheque within the next two weeks.

National Lottery spokesperson Miriam Donohoe told the Irish Mirror that they have verified the winning ticket. “The ticket holder is understandably delighted at their good fortune,” she said. “They are getting independent legal and financial advice, and we look forward to having them come to the winner’s room to collect their cheque in the near future.

“This is a life-changing amount of money,” she added.

Amy Cong, owner of the Village Shop in Malahide, where the winning ticket was sold, said she was delighted with the sale. “This is unbelievable,” she said. “I am delighted for the winner and the area. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would sell a big winning jackpot ticket.”
