The recent syndicate of Dublin Bus drivers whose syndicate scooped a remarkable €24m in the EuroMillions have been congratulated by the Spar retailer who sold the winning ticket.

Tom O’Hanlon, who owns O’Hanlon’s Spar on Station Road, Portarlington, confirmed his store sold the winning ticket last Friday, saying the win had created a great buzz in the locality.

“We are absolutely delighted for the winners,” said O’Hanlon. “We would like to to wish them all the best of luck and hope they enjoy their good fortune, We have had great local support and it has created a great buzz for the locality.”

Of the 22 winners, 20 are senior drivers at Dublin Bus, one is an inspector and the last is retired. Their syndicate is the ninth Irish winner of the EuroMillions since it was launched in 2004.
