Food-lovers are in for a treat this month, as Midleton once again prepares to host one of the most successful food and drink festivals in Ireland.

Now running for more than 15 years, East Cork is a natural choice of location for such an event to flourish; home to some of the most well-regarded food and drink producers in Ireland. The 2016 Midleton Food & Drink Festival will run from 4-11 September, with events happening daily in locations across East Cork.

Irish Distillers is the main sponsor of this year’s festival, which is also sponsored by Midleton Park Hotel, Market Green, Ballymaloe Foods and Pallas Foods.

“Ballymaloe, Sage, The Granary Foodstore, Midleton Park Hotel, Rostellan Courtyard Coffee and the Mad Monk will all host individual events throughout the week in the lead up to the main event on Saturday,” said Seamus Cunningham, festival director.

The Fair Green in Midleton will then be transformed on Saturday 10 September and the marquee – known as the SECAD & Ring of Cork Theatre of Food – will host a number of food and drink demonstrations, by the likes of  Rory and Rachel Allen, Kevin Aherne of Sage Restaurant and dough master Declan Ryan of Arbutus Bread. There will also be entertainment and music, a children’s craft fair and much more.

With Midleton being the home of Irish Distillers, the company’s Ignacio Peregrina said it is “delighted to continue supporting this fantastic initiative which rightly puts the spotlight on Midleton’s growing craft and artisan tradition.” Irish Distillers will also host a number of workshops as part of the festival.
