New Guinness series of short films explores the legacy of legendary talent scout, John Hammond 

Following the recent release of the new Guinness ad, ‘Intolerant Champion’, which tells the story of John Hammond – an ordinary man who achieved the extraordinary, Guinness has produced a  series of short films featuring contemporary musicians (Rudimental, Lianne La Havas, Lady Leshurr and Foals) exploring the music producer’s lasting legacy. The first of the four-part weekly series of three minute films was revealed on www.GUINNESS.com on Monday, 15 February 2016, and can be watched weekly on the site and via  Guinness social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

All New Fibre One 90 calorie bar launches in Irish market

Fibre One, the 90 calorie bar is now available in Ireland. The tasty treats come in two flavours; Chocolate Fudge Brownie, a high fibre chocolate brownie with chocolate flavour fudge pieces and chocolate drizzle, and Lemon Drizzle Squares, a combination of soft moist texture, a refreshing tart and tangy lemon flavour – with each bar containing 90 calories and five grams of fibre (20% of RDA). Fibre One is currently stocked in Tesco and Dunnes Stores’ biscuit aisles priced at €3.99 RRP.

Teeling Whiskey shines on international stage 

The Teeling Whiskey Company continues to shine on the international stage having just picked up four top accolades at the first stage of the World Whiskies Awards. It triumphed in in the Single Grain, Single Malt, 24 Year Old Single Malt and ‘The Revival’ 15 Year Old Single Malt categories and will now go on to compete for the global title. It has also been nominated in the entrepreneurial category at the eighth annual Financial Times Arcelor Mittal Boldness in Business Awards. The overall winners of both competitions will be announced on St Patrick’s Day in London.

Super Chef Students to cook up a storm at St Angela’s, Sligo

President of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Anthony Gray, has called for the Home Economics subject to be mandatory for all students in secondary schools. He argued that the subject “provides students with knowledge and skills which enables them to understand food”. Gray made his comments at the announcement of the Super Chef Competition Final 2015-2016  on the 10th & 11th February 2016 in St. Angela’s College, Sligo, organised by the RAI and St Angela’s. In total, 32 students (16 Junior and 16 Senior), from 17 different counties, have been selected to go forward to the all-island final.

Just Eat reveals worst ever celebrity Valentine’s dates!

A new survey conducted by online takeaway ordering service Just Eat, has cleverly captured some publicity for the company by revealing all about how Irish people feel about Valentine’s day. The survey revealed that Donald Trump (26.5%), Enda Kenny (24%) and Katie Hopkins (21%) topped the poll as those that Irish people would least like to go on a date with this Valentine’s day.
