New TV campaign shows how families benefit by choosing Aldi

Aldi Ireland has launched its latest advertising campaign, first airing during This Morning on TV3 this week.  Aiming to help Irish consumers save on their annual grocery shopping bill, the new campaign features real households and families from around the country, outlining the savings they made by swapping to Aldi.  The till receipts for all grocery purchases for the eight weeks (four in Aldi, four elsewhere) were analysed and the four families reported a significant monthly saving by swapping their main grocery shop to Aldi.

BBQ essentials on special offer at Tesco for the Bank Holiday Weekend

Tesco Ireland has launched two specially created, West Cork Dry Aged Angus Rib Eye and Sirloin Steaks, which will be available across a selection of 36 stores in time for the June bank holiday weekend. These prime steaks were among four Tesco certified Irish Angus steaks awarded international Taste and Quality Institute Superior Taste awards in Brussels earlier this month.

Circle K announces April Play or Park Winner

Circle K (formerly Topaz Energy) has announced Tara French as the April 2018 winner of Circle K’s PLAY or PARK contest. Tara, from has won a once in a lifetime trip to the Seychelles, thanks to Circle K and its airline partner, Turkish Airlines. Tara and her husband will travel business class to the Seychelles, where they will spend seven nights exploring the exotic islands including a private tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve and snorkelling at Anse Lazio, along with a day trip to La Digue Island. Tara will also get to enjoy a luxury spa day and €1,000 spending money to spend as she pleases.

Origin Spirits launches a ‘distinctive and rare’ Single Malt Gin

Origin Spirits Ireland Ltd, producers of the award winning Kalak Vodka range, has launched Ornabrak, a distinctive and rare single malt gin. Crafted from 100% Irish malted barley, the single malt spirit is four-times copper pot distilled and then distilled a fifth time with five carefully selected botanicals to create a complex and floral single malt gin. The name ‘Ornabrak’ is derived from the Gaelic ‘Eorna Braiche’ meaning Malted Barley. Ornabrak Single Malt Gin will be available in independent off licences throughout Ireland from 28 May. RSP: €49.

Belfast tech event showcases “the future of retail”

Belfast-based tech firm Velocity Worldwide has held an event to showcase its technology, which it claims is the future of shopping. The company has developed Darius for Retail, a data, personalisation and insight platform that integrates with mobile and in-store proximity technology, such as Wi-Fi and beacons. It can be used to create personalised shopping experiences and marketing campaigns for shoppers who opt in. Velocity’s clients include retail property management firms and high-profile brands, along with shopping centres, stadiums and more.
