Tesco launches miniature avocado offering

Avocados have become an immensely popular fruit in recent years. Their robust, creamy centre is a perfect addition to a salad or a sandwich, or as a snack on its own. Tesco is expanding on their popularity by introducing the zilla egg variety, a miniature avocado that will come in packs of six. The rare, mini avocados or Zilla Eggs are about a third of the size of regular avocados, and are priced at €3.50.

Aldi goes yellow for Daffodil Day with Bumper Bouquets

Aldi is going yellow this Daffodil Day in support of the Irish Cancer Society, donating 50c from each sale of its Daffodil Day Bumper Bouquet to the charity. Each €3.99 Daffodil Day Bumper Bouquet is made up of 40 Irish grown daffodils, packed in a special yellow sleeve featuring the Irish Cancer Society’s logo. Suppliers in Northern Ireland Get A ‘Kick Start’ From Lidl

Lidl is championing local suppliers with the roll-out of its Kick Start Supplier Development Programme, aimed at giving food and drink companies in Northern Ireland the chance to have their products stocked in more than 190 Lidl stores across Ireland. Kick Start is designed specifically to provide small and medium-sized suppliers with the support they need to grow their brand and build their supply network. It was successfully trialled in the Republic of Ireland in 2017 providing a valuable ‘kick-start’ for over 50 suppliers. This year, up to 80 new products, sourced from Northern Ireland and Ireland, will be selected to feature in a limited edition Kick Start in-store food promotion on sale in September 2018.

Fyffe’s invites Ireland to “Go Bananas” in support of Temple Street Children’s Hospital

National Banana Day will take place on Wednesday, April 18th next. An initiative of popular fruit importers Fyffes, activities being held on the day will be geared to raise funds to purchase new multisensory equipment for Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Those wishing to make a donation of €4 can do so by texting the word BANANA to 50300. Temple Street Children’s Hospital will receive a minimum of €3.25.
