A Foodies Finest* moment at the Tesco Mid-Summer BBQ

Top Dublin club Everleigh Gardens was transformed into a foodies’ dream this week for the Tesco Mid-Summer BBQ, showcase the finest* range and fresh food offering. Guests were welcomed with a glass of Tesco Finest vintage Champagne and strawberries, and then brought on a finest* food journey to explore an evening of seasonal produce. Guests were treated to a festival style BBQ enjoying Tesco’s Hero Summer products and exciting artisan style foods, while chef Brian Beattie interacted with guests demonstrating his skills and offering techniques on how best to enjoy the perfect Tesco BBQ.

Irish women’s rugby stars tackle Lucozade Sport’s ‘Made to Move’ session

Irish fitness expert, author and entrepreneur Pat Divilly hosted an exclusive training session alongside Irish women’s rugby stars Nora Stapleton, Niamh Briggs and Sophie Spence at Sandymount Strand in Dublin this week. The event was the fourth Lucozade Sport’s ‘Made to Move’ session. Attending the lunchtime training session was a group of over 40 lucky rugby fans who were put through their paces, gaining valuable insights to help improve their overall agility, endurance and strength. The session was a rare opportunity for people to train alongside the players from the Irish women’s rugby squad, who are only days away from the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017.

ABP Ireland strike gold at International Quality Awards

ABP Ireland was a quadruple winner at the prestigious annual International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi) Awards this week. The iTQi in Brussels is a leading global authority in testing and promoting superior food and drink products. The 135 judges are drawn from leading European culinary and sommeliers associations. ABP Ireland received three golden star awards for its Tipperary Dry Aged Black Angus Rib Eye Steak and Hereford Dry Aged Rib Eye Steak products. The company’s Hereford Dry Aged Striploin Steak and Tipperary Dry Aged Black Angus Striploin Steak received two golden star awards.

Fever-Tree ‘Madagascan Cola’, the first cola created specifically to be used as mixer

Fever Tree has launched its Madagascan Cola, billing it as the first ever cola created specifically for use as a mixer. It is comprised of a blend of citrus and spices from around the world, which complement whiskeys, rums and other spirits. Its bitter, earthy taste originates with the kola nut from Nigeria, while vanilla extract from Madagascar and Cassia from Indonesia provide a rich sweetness to balance the bitter.

Teeling Whiskey triumphs with eight Gold medals at International Spirit Competitions

Teeling Whiskey Distillery in Dublin is one of dozens of new whiskey distilleries to openThe already heavily decorated Teeling Whiskey has built on its reputation again by winning eight gold medals in International Spirits Competitions during July. Over the past four years, the brand has won no less than 116 awards at national and international spirits competitions. At the annual 2017 Irish Whiskey Masters, held in London and announced last week, Teeling Whiskey received 6 Gold Medals as well as a Masters Title for its premium Small Batch Teeling Whiskey.  On top of these wins at the Irish Whiskey Masters, Teeling Whiskey also won big at the 2017 International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) and the International Spirits Competition (ISC) which took place earlier in the year.

SHS Group acquires leading ignition supplier Standard Brands (UK) Ltd

The SHS Group has today announced the acquisition of international ignition products manufacturer and supplier Standard Brands (UK) Ltd. This adds the Zip and Sunny Jim brands to an existing portfolio of owned brands and distribution agreements in the Household category.  SHS owns premium brands including WKD, Shloer, bottlegreen and Maguire & Paterson matches, and distributes leading products such as Mars Drinks, Ryvita, Jeyes and Dettol in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Standard Brands has a sales office in Leatherhead, Surrey with manufacturing and operations based in Co. Louth, Republic of Ireland. At this point, although contracts have been exchanged, this acquisition is subject to clearance by the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.  No further information will be released at this time and on full completion of the transaction further details will be communicated to all relevant parties.
