Balbriggan Subway scoops top award

Subway BalbrigganThe Subway store in Balbriggan’s Applegreen has been named the company’s Store of the Year Award. The awards recognises excellence demonstrated by Subway store teams nationwide, and have been announced annually for more than ten years. The Balbriggan store, which opened in October 2014, came out ahead of 170 other Subways that operate in Ireland. It is one of 45 stores in Ireland located within an Applegreen site.

 

 

Innovative ingredient range brings luxuriy to lower-fat foods

Leading British owned clean label ingredient specialist Ulrick & Short has the answer to keeping fat content low without sacrificing taste, with a “fat replacer” it calls delyte 9. A tapioca based non-GM clean label starch, delyte 9 is suitable as a substitute ingredient for the majority of fats, including butter, oil, cream and milk solids, whilst also enhancing the formulation with increased body and texture. KitKat adds extra milk and cocoa in effort to reduce sugar

KK4F - Extra Milk & CocoaStarting this week, KitKat will contain extra milk and extra cocoa as Nestlé continues efforts to reduce sugar. The improved recipe will see sugar replaced by more milk and cocoa and is being introduced across the KitKat milk chocolate range. It can be identified by newly designed ‘Extra Milk & Cocoa’ packs that will begin appearing on shelves from early April. Earlier this month, Nestlé announced that it would reduce sugar by 10% across its confectionery portfolio through a range of methods that includes reformulation.

 

Maxol Maynooth supports ‘Feeding Ireland’s Future’ for second year running

Maxol Feeding Irelands Future at Maxol Maynooth Service StationMaxol has participated in this month’s ‘Feeding Ireland’s Future’ initiative for the second successive year. The programme, spearheaded by ‘Efficient Consumer Response Ireland’, encourages young unemployed people to spend a full day of training with retailers, suppliers and service providers to the Irish food and grocery sector. The participants had the opportunity to take CV and interview tips from Conor Sherry, licensee of Maxol Maynooth, along with learning a range of different skills including customer service, stock takes, and deli operations.
