A new FIBA-endorsed 3×3 basketball tournament, sponsored by Hula Hoops, will take place in Dublin this May at Dundrum Town Centre, Basketball Ireland has announced. The event is part of a three-year extension of the partnership between the organisation and Hula-Hoops.

The national 3×3 event will see teams from across the Basketball Ireland National Leagues compete to be crowned Hula Hoops 3×3 Champions. The tournament will be played on a specially-congtructed basketball court complete with tiered seating, while Hula Hoops mascots will be on hand to entertain the crowd and offer samples.

Largo Foods’ brand activation manager Ian O’Rourke said the extended partnership between Basketball Ireland and Hula Hoops is an exciting one. “Our goal is to continue to grow Irish basketball through increased participation,” O’Rourke said, “so we’re very much looking forward to the launch of Hula Hoops 3×3, as a fast-paced and exhilarating extension of that sponsorship.”

Meanwhile, Basketball Ireland’s commerical manager Conor Meany echoed that sentiment, and lauded Hula Hoops’ support of Irish basketball over the past three years. “We are so excited for the 3×3 tournament in Dundrum Town Centre this May,” he said. “Hula Hoops has been a fantastic supporter over the past three years, and is now helping us bring basketball to a whole new audience.

“With 3×3 now an Olympic sport,” he said, “this might be the start of something big for the game in Ireland.”

The Hula Hoops 3×3 National Championships will take place at Dundrum Town Centre on Saturday, May 12th from 10am-5pm and all details can be found here: http://www.basketballireland.ie/news-detail/10038874/.

Spin 1038 will be broadcasting live from courtside and the games will be streamed live on Balls.ie and Basketball Ireland’s Youtube page: youtube.com/user/BasketballIreland.
