Healthy food company Freshly Chopped has announced the opening of its first outlet in Cyprus – the first step in a planned Europe-wide expansion. The Cypriot store, which includes 15 new jobs, has opened in the capital Nicosia, and is the first of three stores in the region, after which the company plans to sell a master franchise.

Freshly Chopped in Cyprus has been opened in partnership with Karen Polyviou, a veteran Cypriot business owner with extensive franchise experience. The store will introduce local culinary options to the menu, and use locally sourced ingredients.

The new restaurant in Cyprus joins the 42 existing Freshly Chopped outlets across the island of Ireland.

“We are confident Cyprus is the perfect place to fuel our expansion across Europe, as healthy eating is ingrained in Cypriot culture,” says Brian Lee, co-founder and CEO. “Our new Freshly Chopped location will serve a wide variety of customers including retail workers to the thousands of tourists who flock to this beautiful every year.

“We’re proud that we have proven the concept in Ireland and built a loyal following from our customers,” Lee says. “Our first outlet in Cyprus marks a significant step in our journey and we are confident that it will prove as popular with Cypriots as it has done with the Irish.”

Freshly Chopped was developed in 2012, by Lee and business partner Andy Chen. It now has 40+ outlets across the island of Ireland.
