C&C Group plc, which manufactures, markets and distributes a range of alcohol and soft drink brands including Bulmers and Tipperary Water, has announced the appointment of Jonathan Solesbury as group chief financial officer, and as a member of the Board of Directors. Solesbury, who has been performing the role of group CFO on an interim basis since August of this year, replaces Kenny Niesen, who vacated the role in June.

In a statement, the Group said Solesbury brings “significant industry experience to C&C”, through 22 years in senior finance roles at global drinks company SABMiller PLC.

“We are pleased to announce Jonathan’s appointment as group chief financial officer on a permanent basis,” said Stephen Glancey, group CEO. “During the period in which he has been performing the role on an interim basis, Jonathan has had a positive impact leading our finance function and made a strong contribution to the commercial side of our business.”

The appointment comes at a time when C&C Group is experiencing moderate growth in its brands. According to the group’s latest half-year results, Bulmers, following its 100% Irish campaign and launch of the new OutCider brand, experienced growth of 2% in the retail channel. Off-trade cider increased to 56%, a marginal year-on-year increase of 1%.
