Aldi Stores (Ireland) today further increased its presence in Dublin with the opening of a new store in Terenure, Dublin 6.

The new Terenure store, which has created 20 new jobs, is Aldi’s 17th store in Dublin.  This brings the total number of Aldi stores in Ireland to 118.  The first Aldi store in Ireland opened in November 1999.

Speaking at the store opening, Audrius Ciutys, manager of Aldi’s new Terenure store said, “We are delighted to open our new Terenure store and look forward to welcoming many new customers from the local area. Each Aldi store we have opened so far has been a fantastic success and we are looking forward to serving the local community.”

Aldi says it remains committed to growing its Irish supply base and increasing the number of Irish products available.  Since 2008 the discounter has almost doubled the number of Irish suppliers it works with, helping to maintain over 34,000 jobs across the Irish food industry. In fact, more than 50% of Aldi’s supplier spend is now with Irish suppliers, producers and manufacturers.

Aldi’s suppliers from the Dublin area include Tallaght-based Robert Roberts, which supplies Aldi’s multi-award winning McGrath’s Irish tea range and Traditional Cheese Company, based in Dublin 12, which supplies  artisan cheeses to Aldi.
